The City reserved a housing block in Jätkäsaari for Hoas, HUS and AYY. The total building area of the block is 16 800 floor square metres, which, according to Helsinki City Council was distributed equally to the three plots.
A sheltered courtyard is situated in the middle of the housing block. The courtyard area is carried out in a coherent plan without any barriers. Playground and recreational facilities are shared. An emergency route runs through the block. HUS’s plot is located along Bahamankatu and Bahamankuja. The shared, 29 spot, parking space is located in the Bahamankuja side of the building mass of the HUS’s plot.
Due to the parking space, an accessible entrance to the building from the street and the main stairwells are located on Bahamankatu where the building masses meet. Theres also an accessible connection from the main stairwell to the countyard.
The city plans demanded to create some variation to the heights and retractions of the building masses, which in turn made it possible to create bright stairwells and corridors. Accessible terraces are situated on the 5th, 6th and 7th floors.
The apartments are planned for HUS employees; one-, two- and three-room apartments. The buildings small frame depth produces bright, functional and efficient floor plans. All apartments have a French balcony.
