Helsinki vocational schools student numbers have increased fast and Roihupelto 1-3 answers the spatial needs this change has created. The various educational sectors have previously been located to functionally inconvenient buildings in different parts of the city. Roihupelto 1-3 project aims to bring the sectors together into appropriate and efficient new buildings.
The project will be implemented in three phases. The plot will be planned so that in the future teaching spaces can be either expanded or parts of it can be addressed for other operations.
Constructed from different concept models, the selected design solution is based on a free-form-growing entity, which allows the spatial plan to be re-evaluation on various stages of the implementation. The architectural and structural solutions are systematized in order to optimize cost and energy efficiency. The design focus is still a pleasant and collaborative learning environment. The project plan was completed in the spring of 2015.
