The design area consists of two sites near Maunula's 1950s downtown. In the north the sites are bordered by a park and from other directions by the Heka-Maunula Oy building built in the 1970s, the Metsäpuro road 1950s area and the Maunula school.
Both sites are mostly located on a slope. Northern / northwestern areas of the plots are considerably steep and therefore set a certain challenge for the design process. The project comprises of five separate residential buildings and three different types of houses: a small apartment block, a terraced house and a block of flats. In its design language the buildings are homogenous, wall-like pieces that through the uniform brick facade become a part of the existing environment. The size and the typology of the northernmost plot is similar to the neighboring 1970s buildings, while the buildings in the southernmost plot are more clearly associated with the smaller scale area surrounding Metsäpuro road.
