Hakaniemi Market Hall renovation
Hakaniemi Market Hall was designed by Karl Hård af Segerstad in 1914. Architecturally, the hall represents Art Nouveau with elements of classicism. From a structural perspective, the building is interesting because it was constructed during the transition to reinforced concrete structures. The market hall is protected by the city’s zoning plan.
The City of Helsinki’s Real Estate Centre commissioned our office to carry out the renovation of the building and develop a project plan for new underground spaces in 2011. In 2016, we began the project’s implementation planning.
